Abstract:

The present paper aims at describing painting during the firts centuries of Christianity, when it was stil considered a religio illicita”. Artisic representations begin to follow strict rules inorder to fulfill their goal of transmitting a new and amazing message. Symbolism now replaces the intrest of having a masterpiece, spiritualization is the most important feature of this composition which, especially, in the period before The Peace with the Churchlays more emphasis on educating the viewer than on decorating space.
